2021 Has been a busy year for our little growing family. With a new career of mine starting to accelerate, a 17 month old at home, a host of family developments, and a fairly competitive VALORANT team, my free time that I used to spend playing any number of new-ish games has dropped to somewhere near zero. I’ve enjoyed writing down a few thoughts on games as I get to play them though over the last few years, and so I’m going to continue to do so with a couple of small caveats:
- I didn’t have time to finish most of the games on this list. Any impressions I have are just that, impressions. Because of that, I didn’t really feel able to rank them in any particular order, so they are roughly in the order I played them.
- Not every game on the list came out in 2021. I simply didn’t play enough games that came out this year. Every game on this list though was at least new to me in 2021.
- There’s enough negativity in the world already, so I purposefully left any negative thoughts I had about the game out. Safe to say, if it made this small list I enjoyed the game. I don’t want to nitpick every small detail about every game, rather just celebrate a thing or two I really liked about each.
With that out of the way, lets get to it. This isn’t necessarily a top 10, or an exhaustive list of everything I’ve played this year, but rather some games I’ve at least tried this year and wanted to share or recommend.
